   disclaimer: haven’t used my switch pro controller that much. only used joy-cons cause, again, weird sorry.the N30 Pro2 is THE most comfortable controller for me by far. i have tiny hands – maybe smaller than the average girl’s – and i get fatigued quickly using an Xbox One controller.for example, playing nonstop to defeat only up to the skeleton king on diablo3 with the XB1 controller make my hands hurt BAD (i go to every nook and cranny of any map if that makes a diff), and i get claws for hands for the next half an hour or so.with this controller though, no fatigue whatsover. why? because everything is closer together!! my fingers are resting at a very natural angle without the typical handles that most controllers have. and with the top buttons’ horizontal alignment, only my index fingers are doing all the work, while my middle finger rests with the others. it’s such an easy and fluid motion when i use those bony protruberances between the index’s distal and middle phalanxes/phalanges for the R1/L1 and the tip of the index fingers to press R2/L2.also, i LOVE the placement of the -/+… very easy to reach. the capture button and the home button took only a bit of adapting to them. the analog sticks both being at the bottom isn’t a problem as well as they’re similar to a dualshock controller placement. the indicator lights on the sides are convenient as well (and pretty ha). corresponding meaning to each LED color can be found on the instruction sheet.as you may have noticed, i mainly bought this for my Nintendo Switch, and i haven’t tried conecting the N30 Pro2 to any other device. (if i ever do, maybe i’ll do an updated review).connecting to the switch though is much easier for me compared with connecting the 8bitdo’s SN30 Pro, though the latter is also easy to pair.with the N30 Pro2, i like the fact that after the initial pairing is done, even if i put my switch to sleep, i can wake up the device… (by pressing the power/sleep button of the console directly while docked. sorry guys, you gotta get up. the N30 Pro2 cannot wake the switch) …but a quick press of the start button on the N30, and it’s automatically remembered and paired as my main controller.i don’t have much to say about the d-pad as i haven’t used it much for any side-scrolling platformers, but i like it’s placement even for diablo3 or nine parchments…or rather, its doesn’t bother me that the analog sticks are placed where they are – as i’ve mentioned.BATT LIFE and MOTION CONTROLi cannot give a review of the batt life as i immediately used the controller straight from the box without checking if it’s fully charged. also cannot review on the motion controls, sorry.CONS…for me?1- just the weaker rumble. i like a stronger haptic feedback.2- i got the N30 Pro2 N edition (which is beautiful, sure), but my heart’s set on the coming G edition… (8bitdo, it’s still coming, RIGHT?!)would i recommend this to anyone else? definitely!! …maybe?maybe if you have tiny hands like mine, or if you think you can benefit from this format. for me, it really is the best controller, and i only wish i can also use it for my xbox one or even ps4. pricing is reasonable and not that steep, so i’d recommend that you try the N30 Pro2!!(sorry i compared with my xbox one controller the most. only because i just played diablo3 on both and the difference in comfort was apparent. plus, my playing that game is pretty constant ha no matter the platform and comparing was easy enough)

   First things first I like the controller. It’s cute, very portable, and loaded with nifty features like bluetooth and rumble. For the $40 I paid I’m satisfied. It’s a great controller for sitting back and playing slower games like strategy, JRPGs, ect.

   My only complaint is that the build quality is definitely not the best. The joysticks are loose out of the box and feel on par with cheap 3rd party controllers. They’re thoroughly disappointing. The D-Pad also fits sort of loosely in its socket which is odd but nothing important. The rest of the buttons are fine.

   Overall it’s a great little product with some nice features for the price, although I wouldn’t recommend it for faster paced action games. I would have gladly spent $10-$20 more to have some nicer joysticks. If the portability and retro look aren’t the primary reasons you’re buying it, you should probably spend more on a nicer controller.

   This SN30 pro ($45) is worth the the extra $5 when compared to this N30 pro ($40).The SN30 Pro is thicker and more ergonomic to hold, has stacked shoulder buttons, and has bigger and more comfortable analog sticks.The only advantage that this N30pro2 has over the SN30Pro is that it looks sleeker, is much thinner making it more “pocketable” in smaller and tighter pockets.But if you wanna carry a portable and fully functional controller in a bag rather than small pockets, the SN30 Pro model is the way to go.Despite not saying do in the description, these lines of controllers CAN connect to iOS:Follow the instructions to connect it to a Mac (A + start) then enter pairing mode.Enter iPhone/iPad settings -> accessibility -> switch control -> switches -> then Bluetooth devices.The 8BitDo controller may show up as either “Wireless controller” or “DUALSHOCK 4”. Select it, and you should be good to go once you feel a single vibrate. It should now show up on your Bluetooth lists and you can rename it from there.

   Has r1, r2, and r3 buttons! I know the R3 buttons are a rarity among mobile controllers. Had to be said early on in the review. I love how fast it charges and the multiple control modes. This allows you to show it up as a standard gamepad, Pro Controller, or (i think) Xbox style controller. Can be finicky with iPadOS but thats more of an apple problem than 8BitDo

   I just got this controller today and really like the design and size but I’m having a problem with the left joystick. It’s seated lower than the right and is canted slightly up and to the left (not centered when resting) which is annoying when playing. There is a gap between the left joystick and the controller body which you can see. It is possible to get it stuck in the up position and it will not re-center itself like it should.

   So imagine you’re in your amazing awesome space flight simulator game and you open the wrong menu by accident, and it gives you the prompt: “Are you sure you want to eject from the ship and self-destruct the entire ship? Press “A” for okay, “B” to cancel!” … in a moment of frenzied panic you look down on the controller, and make sure you’re pressing “B” … press “B”… and by golly the ship explodes into a thousand pieces, you lose everything and you’re in the middle of dark space because the button labeled “B” was actually sending “A” and you should have pressed “A” to mean “B” but in that split-second moment of panic you pressed the wrong button and everything is hell now. Well? 8BitDo says that’s not a mistake nor a design flaw, it’s how they meant to do it.In default PC (x-mode) pressing “A” sends “B”, and pressing “X” sends “Y”. The AB, and XY buttons are essentially reversed in this gamepad when using x-mode, and the company adamantly refuses to even acknowledge that there is a problem with things when a button labeled “A” is sending “B”. Why? No idea.One good thing is, if you’re a bit savvy with disassembling and reassembling things and able to carve up some plastic, then you can re-arrange the buttons to be in their correct positions. It requires a fair bit of chiseling because the case itself has little guides to make sure they place the buttons in the incorrect places at the factory, so you have to carve out new grooves for the correct button placement. It took about 15 minutes to do, and the picture I attached is the product with the buttons in the correct places.Other than that horrible issue (buttons sending the wrong commands in its originally designed condition) the gamepad itself is quite nice. It feels solidly built, it’s very thin and very lightweight. The bluetooth pairs very fast. You can turn it on and start using it almost immediately. The rim of the controller lights up beautifully with different colors when using/charging/pairing etc, so I am very satisfied with this. I would give it 5/5 stars if it didn’t have incorrect button actions, but I only use it in X-mode, and it is unacceptable that by default the buttons would send mismatched codes, worse yet that the company doesn’t even acknowledge that it is a problem. At least admit you messed up a little bit when your product sends “B” when pressing “A”, please.

    The controller looks good but is not very comfortable and is a lot lighter than I would have hoped. It feels light and cheap. The joysticks are awkwardly placed little nubs that are pretty uncomfortable to work with during long sessions of certain games. Writing this review moments after my left joystick started sticking in a down position. Pretty disappointed overall

    I am using this with a RetroPie setup on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. I had to set it up in Nintendo Switch mode to get the triggers to work. I read that it SHOULD be set up in Mac mode, but none of the buttons worked at all. It should be noted that this controller is quite small, but I knew that before buying, and I’m quite pleased with it.

    I love this controller. It doesn’t seem that small to me. In fact it’s less cramped than the JoyCons on the standard grip accessory. The L and R buttons being in a line isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. No accidental button presses. Not to mention this D-pad is legit.

    Pretty awesome little controller, better than expected for under 40 bucks. Buttons are crisp, sticks feel good, much better than some other controllers i have had.

    Running it in Bluetooth mode on an Nintendoswitch.us.com Firestick 4K, connected right away. Didnt have to remap any buttons.

    It is a tad on the small side, but i still find it rather comfortable. Fits my sons hand perfectly (he’s almost 5).

    Nintendoswitch.us.com package arrived open, but 8bitdo packaging was intact; seems to be an issue with the new 3rd party delivery companies being used as of late.

    Overall, super impressed; total use time so far about 5 hours between my son and me.
    Ordered another one a few minutes ago fir multiplayer.

    (Update at bottom.)I need to preface this by saying I’m a big fan of 8BitDo. I’ve pre-ordered almost all of their controllers this year, and am looking out for the Zero 2 and SN30 Pro+. I think they’re fast becoming one of the best third-party controller makers out there, second only to Hori.I was a skeptic at first, but ever since one came with my Analogue Nt mini I was a quick fan.I opted for the N64 variant for the N30 pro 2. While the GameCube colors definitely pop more, I prefer a more muted iteration. Plus, there’s not as enough N64 love compared to GCN!I also have to say that this is my first 8BitDo controller with analog sticks. As I did not own the previous N30 Pro, I wasn’t aware of how small this controller is compared to others. Mind you, it’s not a micro controller, but it’s definitely about 1/3 or so smaller than controllers like the Wii Classic Controller (Pro). If you came into this knowing this already, then great; but if you’re like me and were expecting a standard-size controller, then it’s something you’d want to consider. As such, everything is shrunken, from the buttons to the sticks. It’s better as a travel controller, but maybe not so for home use.That’s one star docked for me, but I realize that’s more of a personal preference.I do like that it uses USB-C to charge, and it charged right away. There are two LEDs along the side to indicate battery and pairing status. They’re bright, but not glaringly so. I was pleased when I made this discovery when I first plugged it in.Since this is geared toward Switch users, there are Switch buttons at the bottom; I do not own a Switch at the moment. I plan on using this with my Android and PC for now, and then see how it tests with a Switch when I get one.But I do want to point out that, when I plugged in the controller to charge, I accidentally pressed the Switch buttons that are located at the button. They’re clicky, but very easy to press, whether intentionally or accidentally.On my Android and PC, I noticed some small lag between inputs. It wasn’t bad, but definitely not zero-lag. I’m sure it’s just the programs I used that inserted the lag. The buttons are nicely clicky, and 8BitDo has made the best third-party d-pad to date, something which is not very easy to accomplish.While minuscule, the buttons do not feel noticeably small. They’re easy to locate and press with tactility, and the analog sticks even have buttons themselves!The second star that I’d like to dock, however, comes from the shoulder buttons. I get what 8BitDo was trying to do here, but the L1 and R1 triggers are a bit difficult for me to press. They’re located on the outer part of the top, while L2 and R2 are toward the center. It’s like the new 3DS, but the way my index fingers rest on the top here makes it so that I press L2 and R2 instead of L1 and R1, unless I move them to uncomfortable positions. Some people might be able to press the outer shoulder buttons more easily–perhaps with the inside of a knuckle–but my fingers won’t let me do so comfortably. With computers, you can easily fix this by swapping them, but you would have to with every program. With consoles, this may not be as easy if they’re hard-programmed inputs. I hope 8BitDo offers a firmware version where you can swap these.I am otherwise pleased and do not regret my purchase. You get a nice, universal controller with analog sticks (that have buttons), vibration, and wonderful color schemes. This is more of a travel controller and is at least much better than other travel controllers. I’m not sure whether I want to order a Zero 2 as now I fear that may be too small!(PS, sorry for the rotated picture. It showed up fine on my PC.)***UPDATE 11/30/18***Okay, so after using this a few more days after writnig this review I have to say it’s grown on me. I’m bumping it up from 3 to 4 stars because, as a controller for Android or computer systems, it works marvelously. The little sticks are actually very comfortable to use despite being minuscule, and the d-pad still is wonderful, but the shoulder problems still remain an issue for me. The inner buttons, while easier to press, are a bit *too* clicky for me (and this coming from someone who loves clickiness).
