I was really excited to get this in the mail today as I had recently ordered a clear purple case and wanted to have another option as well. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this particular one, the wood grain, although from what I can see based on the other reviews the others seem to be of very high quality.
The two pieces for whatever reason don’t fit together properly and leave gaps between the housing that lite shines through. The texture is quite nice and the SNES buttons are always a good thing but it smelled very strongly of spray paint, to the point where I actually had to let it air out after I unboxed it.
Overall, I can see the appeal for this version but to be honest I wish I had just stuck with my purple shell and not wasted almost $40 on a spray-painted shell that doesn’t even fit together properly 😕

This takes some time and effort to install properly (3.5 hours is how long it took me). Search for the YouTube video and follow along. The toughest part was removing the screen from the existing unit. I used a hairdryer on low then switched to high when it didn’t seem to work. Be very careful when removing the screen. Also, watch out for all the little ribbon cables, as they can easily tear. Screwdrivers are included, but it’s good to have some tweezers available (plastic if you can). But the case looks great! Note that it isn’t real wood but plastic.
